DEANE, CECIL A. - Divorce
News - and Clara R., his wife. Mr. Deane is
suing for divorce and the
story relates he is a victim of considerable
misplaced conjugal
confidence. They married in Harrisburg, Pa., on Nov
10, 1870, and three
children were born. Cecil claims in his complaint that
last year he was induced
by the continuous request of his wife to transfer
into her name certain
valuable real estate and property, on the
understanding that she would
hold it as a trustee for him, subject to
his management and
control' also that she further prevailed upon him to
borrow a sum of $35,000
from William Swift with which to erect a block of
eight brick houses. He
further states he forthwith began to assume the
rights of absolute
ownership and to manage the estate in the most un-
businesslike manner. On Nov 1, 1889 she is accused of deserting
him and
at the same time
attempting to remove the furniture from the home. She
later admitted she never
loved him and that she had only become his wife
in order to provide
herself with a good home. He further charges she has
threatened to sell his
property. It is at this point Cecil calls a halt.
Mrs. Deane holds $83,000
of the estate, there is however $43,000 in
encumbrances on the
property. The trial of the suit will no doubt develop
some rather racy
testimony.
